1. The Spartans still have plenty to play for

After losing to Michigan, it looked like the season was over. Michigan State had fallen to 4-3 on the season and had lost to an average Arizona State team, OK Northwestern squad and a strong Michigan team. It seemed to be curtains for the green and white and some were even mailing in the idea of a bowl berth.

Purdue was next on the schedule and the Spartans were given no chance to beat the team that just demolished Ohio State by 29 points, but they won the game, 23-13. In typical Mark Dantonio fashion, his team that seemed dead in the water found a way to come back to life, winning two straight games in impressive fashion.

With the two-game win streak, the Spartans have jumped into the College Football Playoff rankings at No. 18 and they’re also bowl eligible.

A win over Ohio State would be great not only for their win total (potentially reaching 10 with a bowl victory) but also bowl placement.
