2. Michigan State has confidence heading into Ohio State

Winning their second straight game, the Spartans have some momentum heading into arguably the biggest game of the season. OK, Michigan was probably the bigger game, but Ohio State is a good measuring stick for progress.

Since losing to the Wolverines, the Spartans have won two straight games by double-digits — one against a red-hot Purdue team that just beat Ohio State 49-20 and the other was on the road against a Maryland team one win away from bowl eligibility. The Spartans have some confidence heading into a big home game against the Buckeyes who have been struggling of late.

In fact, Ohio State had a tough time putting Nebraska away in Columbus on Saturday afternoon, even trailing at the half.

If Michigan State can beat the Buckeyes, it’ll improve to 7-3 on the season with two very winnable games at Nebraska and at home against Rutgers remaining. A 9-3 finish to the regular season wouldn’t be too shabby for a team that was 4-3 with losses to Northwestern and Arizona State early on.

The Spartans are now locked in to a bowl game and the confidence continues to grow as the win column does.
