Michigan State football’s lack of depth at the defensive line spots has been troublesome in recent years. Josiah Ezirim may be the player the Spartans need.

The Spartans have been after Canton, Mich., defensive end Darius Robinson for awhile. Currently, it’s a five-team race for his services between Colorado, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and Michigan State. However, he has shown plenty of interest in Syracuse and projects, in my opinion, as an Orange-lean at this point. He’s set to commit this month and if he does in fact go orange, then Michigan State will be looking elsewhere.

Enter, Josiah Ezirim, an underrated three-star defensive end from Ohio who may not be on many radars just yet, but could be an excellent late addition for the green and white.

Ezirim could that player that the green and white go after if Robinson doesn’t commit. He does not hold an offer from MSU yet, though. He stands 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds from Columbus, Ohio, at Hilliard Davison High School and is ranked the No. 64 player in the state, per 247Sports.

While he is listed as a strong-side defensive end, he can play inside and is the type of disruptor defensive line coach Ron Burton would like to have, though he is a project. He’s a raw pass-rusher who can stuff the run, but needs a bit more experience.

He posses an excellent swim move technique and a high motor with pursuit. He is a run stuffer with a quick first step and has superior height. If MSU were to offer and he committed then it would be great get for the Spartans with a player of his versatility along the defensive line. Ezirim has tremendous upside and the frame to put on more weight.
