1. Michigan State covers

As much as it pains me to go against my brain, in the interest of being bold, I’m going with Michigan State to cover the spread on Saturday afternoon.

Don’t get me wrong, Purdue is a heck of a football team and if anyone is going to come into Spartan Stadium and steal a win from the Spartans right now, it’d be the Boilermakers — a week after Michigan did the same. The Boilermakers are fresh off a win over Ohio State, but for that exact reason, I think they’ll have a hangover performance against the Spartans.

In my weekly prediction article, I have the Spartans losing 24-21, but for the sake of being bold, I’m going to flip it and say Michigan State comes out on top 27-21.

The game will come down to the wire with Michigan State trailing by one with under five minutes to go, but Rocky Lombardi will have his first memorable drive as a Spartans’ starter, going 75 yards for a touchdown to put the Spartans up six for good.

An interceptions by David Dowell on the final drive for Purdue will put the game on ice and a banged up Michigan State team will get the job done in true Mark Dantonio fashion.
