Michigan State football landed three-star running back Aaron Young on Sunday evening, but what does he bring to the table?

Despite having a poor weekend on the field, Michigan State football was able to pick up a commitment from one of the top athletes on its board.

The Spartans were walloped by Michigan on Saturday, but gained a commitment from three-star running back Aaron Young.

This commitment came essentially out of nowhere as Penn State felt as if it was in good position to land the speedy back, but he decided to go the green and white route. Rutgers, Arkansas and Northwestern, too, were in on the three-star from Coatesville, Penn., but Michigan State needed to add speed and they did.

What does he bring to the Spartans besides much-needed speed? He has a quick, elusive step at the running back position and he can play some cornerback as well.

As you can see, Young has some breakaway speed, which is something Michigan State needs to add more of at the running back position, but he may be recruited more as an athlete, meaning he could switch to defensive back.

Standing 5-foot-9, he’s a bit undersized for the position, but his speed could make up for his height. He brings some versatility and will add depth to the running back position if, in fact, the coaching staff decides to keep him there.
