3. Offense will struggle even more with no Felton Davis III

Not having Felton Davis III for the remainder of the season will not only cause the fan base to lose out on an all-time favorite but Brian Lewerke and the offense will miss him. Struggling even more than they are — which seems unlikely — is almost inevitable without the senior receiver.

Michigan State’s offense has been a nightmare and that was with the future NFL receiver. He was the only skill position player with a pulse heading into the game and even though LJ Scott appears to be back, this side of the ball will struggle to reach the end zone without Davis III.

Lewerke no longer has that target who he connects with well enough to mask the offensive deficiencies and that has to be an uncomfortable feeling for the junior passer.

After he went down, there was a resounding feeling around the fan base that the season may just be a lost cause. A comeback against the Wolverines seemed unlikely without the star receiver and teams no longer had to game-plan for a 6-foot-4 walking highlight reel.

The offense will be in even more trouble without Davis III.
