2. Connor Heyward’s absolute dime

Just a couple of plays after Mark Dantonio pulled a rabbit out of his hat with a fake punt deep in his own territory, he dialed up a trick play on Penn State’s side of the field.

Oh yeah, and he used Connor Heyward once again to execute the perfect trick play.

The sophomore running back who had just rushed for 26 yards on a fake punt took a shotgun handoff to the right and even with a rush coming at him, he bombed a pass to Cam Chambers down to the 1-yard-line on a perfect strike.

This may actually have been the best pass of the day and that’s not a knock on Brian Lewerke — though his accuracy was off on Saturday. Heyward dropped the ball right in Chambers’ basket and picked up a huge gain on second down to end the quarter — it set up a La’Darius Jefferson game-tying touchdown.

Heyward is quite the athlete, showing off his arm and Chambers made a heck of a catch. The sophomore back had 36 yards passing and 44 rushing yards on eight carries.
