2. Brian Lewerke will throw 12 touchdown passes, two INTs

How’s this for bold? Brian Lewerke is going to average around 300 yards per game with 12 touchdown passes and only two picks. He’s going to have his best month of action since taking over as Michigan State’s quarterback last season, and that includes the back-to-back 400-yard games against Penn State and Northwestern a year ago.

The offense will see improvement in the run game which will, in turn, open up the pass. Even without Cody White, the receivers will flourish from Lewerke’s increased accuracy and decision-making.

Dave Warner knows he has a future NFL quarterback under center, so he needs to open up the playbook for the dual-threat to get the ball down the field in a hurry. Teams will have to respect the fact that he can run, so they’ll have a spy, or two, and that takes away a man from coverage, something of which Lewerke will take advantage.

Lewerke’s numbers will surpass 2,000 yards on the season after October to go along with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. It’ll be hard to blame him for anything after this strong month of play.
