Kind of like IMG Academy is for football recruiting, La Lumiere is for basketball. The Indiana-based high school is a breeding ground for top recruits and the 2019 class has a couple of major targets who the Spartans are targeting.

Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Isaiah Stewart decided to make the switch to La Lumiere to better his basketball career. It’s not like the elite recruit needed more exposure, but he wanted to play with, and against, some of the best players in the country. He’s teammates with one of the Spartans’ top targets in the class and the two could both join the green and white.

Stewart is listed as the fifth-best player in the class as well as the third-best center — yes, the 2019 class is loaded with talent at the center position. He stands 6-foot-9 and weighs a bruising 245 pounds.

The five-star center is big, strong and can run the floor well for a player his size. He’s not overweight, by any means, as his 245 pounds is mostly muscle which helps him dominate in the post, but he can step back and hit jumpers, too.

Duke and Kentucky could be the Spartans’ main competition for Stewart.
