4. Shakur Brown’s first-quarter pick-six

This is one of those plays that almost never happened. It took the perfect scenario to make it all possible.

For one, Josh Butler needed to get called for a hold on the previous play in order to exit the game in favor of Shakur Brown. The coaching staff made the change to Brown after Butler’s hold and the redshirt freshman came into the game and happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Peyton Ramsey tried to hit his running back in the flat after the Michigan State pass rush got in his face before he could even think and threw it just a bit high as his back tipped it into the hands of a waiting Brown and he ran it all the way back for a Spartan score.

That second touchdown really set the tone for the rest of the game as the Spartans never relinquished their lead.

Brown may have earned himself more snaps after the strong play and the Spartans could use some help in the secondary without Josiah Scott.
