Michigan State football had a tough time putting Indiana away in Week 4, but freshman receiver Jalen Nailor saved the day with two scores.

It wasn’t pretty, but what win over Indiana has been over the past decade-plus? Mark Dantonio and Co. were able to head to Bloomington and come away with a 35-21 win, but it was due, in large part, to the play of the Spartans’ defensive line as well as freshman receiver Jalen Nailor.

The receiver from Bishop Gorman High (Nev.) was fantastic in limited action, catching one pass for 16 yards and rushing three times for 79 yards. Oh, and by the way, he had two touchdowns, including a game-clincher on a 75-yard rush, an end around, to give the Spartans a 35-21 lead which they never relinquished.

On a day where Brian Lewerke didn’t look all that sharp, completing just 14-of-25 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns but he also had two poorly-thrown interceptions. He was making poor decisions all night long and nearly cost the Spartans with a fumble on a fourth-down option play in the fourth quarter

While the receivers were making plays all night, mainly Felton Davis III and Cody White, Nailor came up big when the Spartans needed him the most.

This was his “welcome to the Big Ten moment” and he rose to the occasion.

Michigan State nearly let this game slip from its fingers with poor execution late in the fourth quarter after mounting a 28-7 lead.
