One of the most surprising freshmen to get some run in Week 2 against Arizona State was La’Darius Jefferson, an athlete from Muskegon, Mich.

The former state champion quarterback has done an excellent job of proving himself worthy of early snaps, coming to campus after most of his fellow freshmen because he had a class to finish and he has still turned heads in a short period of time, earning three carries in the second game of the year.

It may not seem like a big deal that he got three carries against Arizona State, but when the offense essentially feels like the run game isn’t working, three rushes for 20 yards is a heck of a showing for first collegiate experience. The run game was basically abandoned and he still found a way to have an impact, especially on a beautifully-executed option play in the second half.

Don’t be surprised to see Jefferson break more career-highs against Indiana, especially if LJ Scott is unable to go. He has the speed, elusiveness and running style to make him successful in the green and white.

Jefferson could break 50 yards on Saturday night.
