Wide receivers: A

There wasn’t a better position group on the field Saturday than the wide receivers.

Cody White was the vest of the bunch, catching nine passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. He’s growing into a star for the Spartans and he’d probably be the No. 1 receiver on just about any other team in the conference, but he slotted behind Felton Davis III in the pecking order. White’s touchdown catch looked to seal the win, but we all know how that went.

Speaking of Davis III, the senior wide out caught five passes 64 yards. He didn’t have the most targets, but was solid when the ball was thrown in his direction, flashing those strong hands.

Darrell Stewart Jr. finished with five receptions for 58 yards and was great after the catch. He made some defenders miss and turned 1-2 yard gains into first downs a couple of times.

Jalen Nailor looks like a kid who may soon get more touches. He caught one pass for four yards and had two rushes for 16 yards.

As for the tight ends, they were relatively non-existent. Matt Sokol had a drop on a high pass in the second half and Brian Lewerke and Matt Dotson didn’t look to be on the same page in the first half in a pass into the end zone which was too high for the sophomore tight end and was intercepted on a tip.
