3. This team isn’t bowl-worthy

I’ve seen this one floating around, too. Some are so upset about the Spartans’ loss in the desert (something every Big Ten team has dealt with in Tempe) that they’re ruling this season “done”.

Michigan State shouldn’t even play another game because there’s no way this team is going to a bowl. The Spartans just don’t have what it takes to even contend with Ohio State, Penn State or even Michigan. The season is a lost cause and a major disappointment.

This is all from one defeat at the hands of a resurgent team that has since been ranked in the latest AP Top 25 at No. 23.

Let’s pump the brakes here, folks.

Michigan State still has 10 games left on the schedule and a bye week coming at the perfect time. The Spartans can turn things around in a hurry — just look at what happened after the Notre Dame blowout last year.

This team should win its final two games of September and move into the tough part of the schedule with momentum, getting healthy and working out the kinks in the Week 3 bye.

Yes, this team is more than bowl-worthy and a double-digit win season is still very possible. Plus, the Big Ten title and a spot in the playoff are both still up for grabs.
