Michigan State football has a tough Week 2 matchup with Arizona State on Saturday evening, but here’s why they’ll pull out a victory.

Nothing is tougher than going into a Pac-12 stadium on a Saturday night and trying to pull out a victory. Michigan State is going somewhere no Big Ten team has ever won: Tempe, Ariz.

The Spartans are looking to give the Big Ten their first win in 10 games at Arizona State while the Sun Devils are trying to prove their 49-7 thumping of UTSA wasn’t a fluke.

Herm Edwards will lead the Sun Devils into battle in his first tough collegiate matchup while Mark Dantonio is used to this type of pressure. Saturday night should be a good one as both of these teams could be battling for college football contention.

Let’s take a look at why Michigan State will beat Arizona State.

5. LJ Scott and the offensive line bounce back

It was a rough opening performance from the offensive line which limited LJ Scott to just 84 yards on 23 carries. He couldn’t seem to gain any momentum as the line wasn’t opening any holes.

Moreover, it allowed three sacks on a usually-elusive Brian Lewerke which proved it didn’t have its best game as a unit.

Cole Chewins was out at left tackle but all signs are pointing to his return in Week 2 and that would be a major positive for this group. He’s a veteran leader and a guy who could be much-improved from his sophomore to his junior season.

Scott will benefit from the return of Chewins and the offensive line will look like a completely different group as the Spartans’ offense gets on track in the trenches. He’ll rush for over 100 yards and the line will be the main reason for his success.
