2. Brian Lewerke averages over 300 yards passing

Recording 287 passing yards and two touchdowns in the opener was a strong start for Brian Lewerke and he wasn’t truly able to air it out like he probably would have liked. He completed 69 percent of his passes and his only interception wasn’t even his fault as Darrell Stewart Jr. tripped while running a route and Lewerke’s pass sailed into the defenders arms, right where his receiver would have been standing.

It’s not unfathomable to believe he’s going to average over 300 yards passing per game over the next three contests, especially against the defenses he’s planning to face.

Indiana is probably the best of the bunch, improving over time under new head coach and former defensive coordinator Tom Allen. They’ll present a tough matchup like they did a season ago, but Lewerke will still approach that 300-yard mark in Bloomington.

Arizona State’s defense hasn’t been good for some time, and that’s what happens when you play in the Pac-12. Plus, Lewerke will have a huge game in his homecoming as an Arizona-native.

Lastly, Central Michigan had one of the best secondaries in the MAC last season, but that speaks for itself. The MAC isn’t the caliber of the Big Ten and the Chippewas haven’t seen a quarterback like Lewerke in some time.

Heading into October, Lewerke will have a total of 1,300 yards passing with 10 touchdowns through the air.
