4. LJ Scott should lose his starting job

Talk about fans losing their minds over one specific position, LJ Scott was being dragged through the mud on Friday night after rushing for just 84 yards on 23 carries.

Was it his best performance? No, but it did have plenty to do with the offensive line not opening the holes for him. We all know Scott likes to dance around a bit before hitting the holes, a-la Le’Veon Bell, but there weren’t any for him to patiently wait.

Moreover, Connor Heyward looked good behind Scott, rushing five times for 42 yards and two touchdowns, but some of his runs were designed to go to the outside where there was more room and less chance for blocking errors while Scott’s runs were between the tackles mostly — LJ did have a nice touchdown run late in the game called back for holding when he did run to the outside.

Scott showed flashes of his explosiveness, especially catching the ball out of the backfield. He finished with three receptions for 57 yards — 141 all-purpose yards isn’t too shabby for a ‘down’ game.

Before you dub Heyward the new starter, wait until Scott fails to see open holes. He didn’t have much to work with.
