Michigan State Football: Cam Chambers will be secret weapon in 2018
Cam Chambers has gone relatively unnoticed for two years, but 2018 could be his time to shine for Michigan State football.
It can’t be easy to thrive as the fourth receiver in an offense with Felton Davis III, Cody White and Darrell Stewart Jr., but Cam Chambers may use the plethora of weapons in front of him to his advantage.

With defenses focusing on the Spartans’ three starting receivers, Chambers could come off the bench and carve out a nice role for himself.
Much like Hunter Rison did last season (since transferring), Chambers could be a secret weapon in the Spartans’ offense, as he could become a top option for Brian Lewerke.
If you’re looking for a receiver who plays a bit like Aaron Burbridge and could have even more athleticism, Chambers could be that guy. He stands 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 214 pounds of pure muscle, making him a load for opposing defensive backs. He’s quick, runs good, sharp routes and his strength could set him apart.
As a redshirt freshman, Chambers finished with just five catches for 66 yards, but you may see that at least quadruple with Rison’s targets now headed his way and a full offseason of prepping as the No. 4 guy and improving after two quiet years in East Lansing.
Michigan State needs another receiver to step up behind that trio of starters, especially with Rison and Trishton Jackson transferring out of the program.
There’s a reason Chambers was one of the highest-rated receivers in the 2016 class and you’ll soon see why he’s the only one of the four four-star wide outs to remain with the program on the offensive side of the ball. The only other four-star wide out from the class who is still on the team is Justin Layne and he made the move to cornerback.
Chambers will be the Spartans’ secret weapon this season and I’d predict a 30-catch, 400-yard season for the sophomore wide out.
