5. Who steps up as Josiah Scott’s replacement?

I, for one, am excited to see what the cornerbacks can do without Josiah Scott. The replacements for the former Freshman All-American will be duking it out for two months as the sophomore recovers from his non-contact injury suffered in the first week of fall camp.

Scott was expected to be that All-American cornerback for the Spartans after a breakout freshman season. He was one of the best lockdown corners in the Big Ten but his progress took a hit with this latest injury.

Backing him up is Josh Butler, a junior with the most experience of the bunch. However, he may be getting some serious competition from Shakur Brown, a redshirt freshman. He has been impressive all summer and he looks like one of the most talented backups in the conference. He may very well swoop in and steal that starting job from Butler.

Outside of those two, Kalon Gervin, Davion Williams, Tre Person, Xavier Henderson and Christian Jackson will be in the running. This team is absolutely loaded in the defensive backfield and most of the incoming freshmen cornerbacks could start right away if they were given the chance.

Who will step up as the replacement for Scott and will whoever it is push the injured corner for playing time when he’s healthy?
