Michigan State football heads into a new season with updated expectations, but what storylines will dominate this fall?

Hard to believe college football is right around the corner, but the leaves are starting to change colors and you can almost hear the crunch of the pads at your local football fields. It’s the best time of the year.

Michigan State football has experienced a resurgence, of sorts, after the disaster that was 2016. The Spartans were the laughing stock of the conference for a season, something Mark Dantonio wasn’t accustomed to, and they finished 3-9 with losses to Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. To make matters worse, they had an even worse offseason.

But rebound they did. Michigan State returned to its winning ways by getting back to the basics — finding a good quarterback and playing defense helped.

Ahead of the 2018 season, expectations are at an all-time high as many believe this could be Dantonio’s best team yet. Plenty of things have to fall into place for that to happen as storylines begin to take shape.
