Michigan State basketball made the top 10 of four-star forward Drew Timme but what are the Spartans’ chances to land him?

One of the latest offers from Michigan State in the 2019 class was extended to Drew Timme, a four-star power forward from Richardson, Texas.

Usually, these type of long-distance recruitments don’t go the Spartans’ way, but Tom Izzo has been gaining some momentum here and Timme looks to be leaning ever so slightly toward the green and white.

Just last week, two weeks after receiving his official MSU offer, he released his list of top 10 schools and included the Spartans. He also named Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Gonzaga, Purdue, Louisville, Arizona, Illinois, Alabama and Oklahoma in his top 10.

The surprising omission was Duke, a presumed favorite before he released his top schools list.

Now, Timme is planning a visit to Michigan State, but he doesn’t know when just yet, per 247Sports‘ Sean Scherer.

What chance do the Spartans stand with the four-star forward from Texas?

Well, he was quick to add Michigan State to his top 10 and he has nothing but good things to say about Izzo and even some of the top 247Sports recruiting experts have Crystal Balled him to the green and white — Michigan State leads with 67 percent of the projections.

Also, the fact that Duke didn’t make his top schools list is good news for Michigan State. That looked to be the Spartans’ main competition.

If I were to wager a guess on this one, I’d say Timme has a 40-50 percent shot at becoming a Spartan before his recruitment is over. He may choose to stay closer to home, but his relationship with Izzo is growing stronger by the day and the Spartans are trending.

Timme is ranked the No. 47 overall player in the 2019 class as well as the 11th-best power forward, according to the 247Sports‘ composite.
