Michigan State football received another 2019 pledge on Wednesday as three-star lineman JD Duplain committed to the Spartans.

The Spartans’ 2019 recruiting class is quickly filling up and they added another pledge on Wednesday in three-star offensive guard JD Duplain from Strongsville, Ohio.

While he’s listed as a guard, the coaching staff was interested in him on the defensive side of the ball as well, adding some versatility to Michigan State’s 2019 class.

On top of that versatility, he also brings toughness.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound guard has the size to also content at tackle or he could even shift over to center, making him an excellent addition to the offensive line.

When you watch his highlight reel, the first thing that sticks out is his aggressiveness. His main goal is to get that pancake, leaving the defender on his back wondering what just hit him. He has a strong first step which packs plenty of explosiveness. He stays low, so when he makes contact with defenders, they’re usually sent flying back.

Sure, Duplain could play a little defensive tackle, too, but he may be best suited for that offensive line. His strength could make him a force on the defensive line, but he seems better suited for protected his quarterback rather than getting after another team’s.

The three-star Ohio-native is ranked the No. 745 overall recruit in the class and the 34th-best offensive guard, according to 247Sports.
