Michigan State Football: Top 5 captain candidates for 2018 season
This one may be a little bit of an eye-opener as fans and coaches have been waiting to see a more mature LJ Scott, and I think by coming back for his senior season, he showed that he’s ready to step up into a leadership role.
Scott was once the young buck on the roster with all the talent and now he’s a veteran who is ready to shake off the negative assumptions regarding his play on the field and maturity off it.
Last season was rough for Scott although he was the team’s leading rusher with 898 yards and eight scores. He fell victim to the turnover bug early in the season which led to his benching in certain situations against Notre Dame and Bowling Green and he was pulled over for driving with a suspended license — not the first time it had happened, either.
Looking for his first 1,000-yard season, Scott has his mind set on improvement both on and off the field. He seems to have the right mindset for a breakout campaign and the young backs are looking up to him.
