
1. Ward now gives MSU two legit Player of the Year candidates
Heading into the 20171-8 season, Michigan State had a couple of legit player of the year candidates in Miles Bridges and Nick Ward. Neither were able to come away with the coveted award, but both were All-Big Ten caliber players. Now that Ward is back for 2018-19, the Spartans have Cassius Winston to push him for the honor.

Michigan State is now rocking two legit Big Ten Player of the Year candidates, and potentially three if Josh Langford can continue to improve and avoid late-season letdowns.
The Winston-Ward connection has been a strong one for the past couple of seasons and they’ll be able to feed off each other. Having two strong player of the year candidates makes Michigan State one of the most talented teams in the conference and there’s a good chance the Spartans will have a couple of the most improved players in the conference in Matt McQuaid and Xavier Tillman.
With two player of the year candidates this past season, the Spartans won the regular season conference title — the same could happen in 2018-19.

The Spartans won’t be struggling for go-to options with Ward, Winston and Langford, making it that much more difficult to defend this team.
