Michigan State football has to feel good about its chances to land four-star defensive end Michael Fletcher from Flint.

If you’re looking for a must-have target in the 2019 class, four-star defensive end Michael Fletcher has to be just that.

Michigan State has been hot on his trail for some time now and the Spartans have to feel pretty good about their chances to land him. Even more so now that he’s set a commitment date and named Michigan State in his top six schools.

Also making the cut were Michigan, Alabama, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Fletcher will be playing his college ball in either the Big Ten or SEC in 2019, but the Spartans have to be thinking positive, especially after the recent trends.

So what are the Spartans’ chances to land Fletcher over the likes of Alabama, Wisconsin and Michigan?

As of May 27, I would say that Fletcher is Michigan State’s to lose. He’s been to East Lansing multiple times and he must have a good idea of who his leader is if he’s planning on announcing his commitment before his senior season. Moreover, there hasn’t been a ton of talk about Kentucky, Nebraska or Wisconsin, giving Michigan and Michigan State an advantage.

If I were to place a number on Michigan State’s chances to land Fletcher, it’d be in the 65-70 percent range, but you can’t count out the Wolverines just yet. They’ll be getting an official visit from him on June 22, a week before he commits.
