There hasn’t been much news on the Rocket Watts front, but his recruitment could be heating up soon. The elite scorer from Detroit is a strong Mr. Basketball candidate in 2018-19 and could be a finalist along with Romeo Weems.

Right now, the Michigan Wolverines look to be the favorites to land him, but you can’t count Michigan State out as it will be desperate for wings. However, Watts could find himself playing point at the next level with his smaller frame at 6-2, 180 pounds.

Watts is an explosive guard from Old Redford Academy who has a strong jump shot, good handles and can create for himself. He would be more of a scoring point guard if he’s being recruited at that position by Tom Izzo. He’d also be a nice depth piece behind Cassius Winston and Foster Loyer as a true freshman.

If he’s slotted at the two-guard position, he will need to add some muscle to be able to battle it out on the wing.

The nation’s No. 47 prospect and sixth-best shooting guard is considered the state’s top prospect by 247Sports. He holds nearly two dozen offers.
