4. Not much chatter about rest of top five

Furthering the point of Romeo Weems’ familiarity with the Michigan State program, the remainder of his top five schools have been relatively quiet in his recruitment.

Sure, Weems’ recruitment has been quiet to begin with, but there hasn’t been much chatter about Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon or DePaul. They’re all great schools and most have successful basketball programs, but without constant visits or contact with each coaching staff the way Tom Izzo keeps in touch with him, there’s not a great chance he’s headed to any of the four.

Crazier things have happened in recruiting, so we can’t just write off programs like Oregon or DePaul, but it seems as if those two are surprise additions to his top five.

Chris Holtmann has stopped in to see Weems before but John Beilein and the Michigan Wolverines have been more quiet contenders in his recruitment.

The Spartans have gotten the spotlight for most of his recruiting process and he’s probably just ready to make it official — barring a surprise.
