Michigan State basketball is looking to land one of the top prospects in the 2019 class, but what’re the chances Romeo Weems commits?

Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class has been vacant for too long as Tom Izzo has been on the recruiting trailing, pushing to land some of the nation’s top talent.

That wait to land the first 2019 commitment may soon come to a close as four-star forward Romeo Weems revealed his final five schools and his intention to announce a decision on May 22 — this Tuesday.

Michigan State seems to be the most active in his recruitment while Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and DePaul also made the cut. The Spartans’ main competition for Weems has to be Michigan at this point as the in-state rival has been impressing recruits with its development and on-court results.

Weems and Michigan State have been in contact since the young prospect’s freshman season at New Haven and he’s risen in the recruiting rankings over the past couple of years.

So what are Michigan State’s chances to land Weems?

Although you can’t usually treat the 247Sports Crystal Ball as gospel, the 100 percent prediction for Weems to Michigan State seems to be correct. The four-star has been high on Michigan State for some time, and vice versa. Not many schools have been rumored to be pushing hard for him other than the Spartans, and no one has come up of late. He hasn’t taken many other visits and Izzo was the last coach to stop in to see him.
