Michigan State Football: Top 5 remaining in-state targets in 2019 class
Speaking of underrated prospects, Flint’s Michael Fletcher might be the most overlooked, rankings-wise, player in the entire state. Although 247Sports has him listed as the No. 6 recruit in the state of Michigan, he’s No. 10 in the composite and that’s just flat-out disrespectful.
Fletcher is listed as the nation’s No. 229 overall recruit and 15th-best strong-side defensive end and, truthfully, he could be much higher come the end of summer.
Fletcher showed off at The Opening regional in Ohio, performing well against some of the Midwest’s best offensive linemen, including former Michigan State target and current Michigan commit, Karsen Barnhart. The two went at it over the weekend and Fletcher looked to get the best of Barnhart on a couple occasions. Could that be a future in-state rivalry matchup?
It sure looks that way as Fletcher has been trending toward the Spartans lately and recently took a trip to East Lansing with his grandmother.
The four-star defensive end could have a Shilique Calhoun-type of impact for the Spartans early on in his career with his 6-6, 240-pound frame and he’s not even close to reaching his ceiling.
