Michigan State has been trending for four-star defensive end Michael Fletcher in recent weeks, and he could be this cycle’s must-have prospect.

The state of Michigan is loaded with talent in the 2019 recruiting class, and Michigan State is trying to capitalize on it. Having a number of blue-chippers in the 2019 cycle, the state may provide the Spartans their best class yet under Mark Dantonio.

Arguably the most sought-after prospect still on the market in the class, outside of Devontae Dobbs, is four-star defensive end Michael Fletcher from Flint.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound end has been turning heads lately, including at The Opening regional in Ohio this past weekend. In fact, 247Sports Steve Wiltfong named Fletcher as a player on the defensive line who “flashed” in the event.

Here’s Fletcher at the camp blowing by Michigan pledge Karsen Barnhart.

Not to mention, Fletcher was flashing Michigan State gloves at the camp and had a visit to East Lansing on Monday where he brought his grandmother.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball may not mean much, but the last three predictions, all from respected recruiting experts, are in favor of the Spartans. Allen Trieu, Wiltfong and SB Nation’s Bud Elliott have supreme confidence in the Spartans landing the Flint-native.

Michigan State it battling it out with in-state rival Michigan for the four-star prospect’s services and the Spartans seem to be taking the lead and not looking back.

Landing the powerful four-star from Flint would be a major victory for the green and white. He’s listed as the No. 229 overall recruit in the class and Michigan’s sixth-best prospect, per 247Sports, and he may still be on the rise.
