Michigan State has made quite the impression on three-star Ohio linebacker recruit Jestin Jacobs as he recently named the Spartans in his top seven.

Sometimes during recruiting cycles, new names pop up left and right, releasing their lists of top schools. For Jestin Jacobs, he’s a relatively new name on Michigan State’s radar as he was offered by the Spartans on March 12 and recently named them in his list of top seven schools.

Jacobs took to Twitter a week ago to release his Big Ten-dominated list of top schools and the Spartans appeared with Iowa, Northwestern and Purdue from the conference as well as Iowa State, Kentucky and hometown program Cincinnati.

Jacobs, a native of Clayton, Ohio, has to be intrigued by the Spartans’ development of linebackers over the years. While there haven’t been many linebackers from Michigan State drafted in recent years, guys like Max Bullough, Greg Jones and Denicos Allen have been All-Big Ten and borderline All-American players. Add in Joe Bachie, also an Ohio-native, and you have a handful of guys who have molded into elite players at the position.

The staff has taken recent interest in the rising linebacker, as have a plethora of other Power Five schools such as Minnesota, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech who have all offered in the past few months, on top of most of his top seven. He’s even taken a recent visit to Notre Dame.

The three-star from Ohio has been blowing up, and deservedly so.

Jacobs has decent size at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds and his side-to-side movement is almost as impressive as his aggressiveness when shedding blocks and getting to the ball-carrier.

There’s no word on when he’s planning to commit, especially since he said his recruitment is still open, but the Spartans are in good position for the nation’s No. 518 recruit and 32nd-best linebacker, per 247Sports.
