DaShaun Mallory had a long journey to becoming a Spartan, but now that he has finally signed he will be a force to reckon with in the Big Ten.

Dashaun Mallory is 6-foot-3 and a load at 310 pounds, yet he is quick and agile. He has the measurables to potentially be an elite Big Ten defensive tackle.

Michigan State lost plenty over the last two seasons along the defensive line, therefore, Mallory’s commitment was huge. The Spartans were patient while Mallory got his academics in order and it has paid off.

The three-star tackle played some defensive end in high school and was fast off the edge and pursued well. He has an incredible motor and does not give up on plays. He is not just a run stuffer or a game filler, because he makes plays. He has rushes the quarterback just as well as he defends the run and uses the swim move extremely well and sheds blockers off with ease.

Mallory is also a bruising tackler. What I liked most about him was how he approached the RPOs. Most college teams today have a section in their playbook for the run-pass option. The RPOs can put much stress on a defense. However, Mallory keeps his head in the play performed well in attacking them. It showed he has been coached as well as the immense talent he is.
