From one in-state star to another, Rocket Watts and Harlond Beverly are considered the Spartans’ top two guard targets in the class although Beverly may fill more of a need with Cassius Winston entering his senior season in 2019.

Beverly is more of a polished point guard prospect while Watts is more of an undersized two-guard. On top of that, he stands about 6-foot-4 and has impressive athleticism for the position. Not many point guards can catch and finish alley-oops like Beverly.

In the open court, too, he’s dangerous. With defenders bolting at him from different angles, he can keep them on skates with a behind-the-back moves or a shake to the left or right. He’s tough to stay in front of, especially with that long frame.

The Southfield-native is ranked the No. 61 prospect and sixth-best point guard in the class, according to 247Sports. Right now it seems as if the Spartans, Baylor Bears, Ohio State Buckeyes and Xavier Musketeers are leading for his services.

If the Spartans are looking for the next star point guard, Beverly may be it.
