Brandon Randle was one of those guys who everyone was interested in keeping an eye on during the spring scrimmage because of the talking up the coaching staff did for him. They were talking about potential replacements for Chris Frey at Sam linebacker and Tyriq Thompson and Randle were mentioned as the most likely starters.

Although Antjuan Simmons was a favorite following the conclusion of the 2017 season, those two have stepped up while the sophomore is likely to be vying for time at Star linebacker.

Randle looked the part in the spring game, showing good lateral quickness and having a hand in plenty of plays. The former Army All-American was part of Michigan State’s 2016 recruiting class which ranked as one of Mark Dantonio’s best, but redshirted as a true freshman before playing minimal snaps as a sophomore.

Moreover, he even changed positions for a short period of time, going from linebacker to defensive end and now that he’s back at linebacker, he could be in for a breakout season.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker from Battle Creek is athletic, aggressive and can be an elite pass-rusher. Watch him grow this fall.
