Right when you thought the Allen brothers’ reign in East Lansing was over, another one steps to the forefront. Michigan State got plenty of all-conference production from Jack Allen followed by Brian Allen and the only graduating starting offensive lineman from 2017 has given way to his younger brother, Matt Allen, to start.

Although he has yet to officially win the starting job, the youngest Allen looked the part during Saturday’s spring scrimmage with the No. 1s.

Allen redshirted in 2016 and then played minimally in 2017 behind his older brother, Brian. In case you don’t remember, Brian filled in for Jack who was an All-American and runner-up for the Rimington Trophy.

We got a little taste of what Matt can bring to the table and there’s a good chance he’s ready to take the reigns of the line and ease his way into that starting center role. He has the body frame (6-3, 296 pounds) and the strength to be a force up front.
