3. Matt McQuaid’s role needs to be increased

I love Matt McQuaid, and if he isn’t one of your favorite Spartans, well, I don’t know what to tell you because something is wrong. No. 20 in green and white is the energy guy every team loves to have, someone who leaves it all on the court and gives 110 percent every second (cue the McQuaid floor slap).

McQuaid has earned a starting role on this team, and is the perfect piece to the puzzle. He is a hawk on defense, and puts pressure on whomever he is guarding. He has an act to space the floor, and knock down big shots in big moments of games (hey Miles, why don’t you take a few notes).

The junior is finally becoming the shooter Spartan fans have expected over the past three seasons, but it’s all going for nothing when the offense only allows him to average four shots per game. More sets designed to get No. 20 shots will only benefit this team, and that’s something needing a change.

Lastly, the unbelievable amount of energy McQuaid has would be the addition this starting five needs. When you look at the starting five, who is the energy guy? Exactly. Put McQuaid in there.
