4. It’s time to get Josh Langford going

What’s going on with Josh Langford lately? The sophomore wing is in the midst of a lengthy slump and it’s partially due to his inability to create his own shot lately. When he was on fire earlier in the year, he was taking 10-15 shots per game, but he made just 2-of-6 on Friday.

Langford’s lack of scoring wasn’t the only issue against Wisconsin but also the sloppy play which resulted in three turnovers and he had three fouls — one was on an offensive rebound he surrendered to the Badgers. He just looked out of sorts on both ends of the floor, especially late in the game.

It’s time to get Langford going because, believe it or not, his ability to score is going to help the Spartans in March. He’s a streaky shooter, but the Spartans would rather have him shoot 10-15 shots and make 5-7 rather than him get up just six attempts and make two. He needs to be shooting more.

Is it a confidence thing? It might seem that way at this point, but Langford maintains a relatively level head. Whatever is causing this slump needs to be targeted and the Spartans need to get him going if they’re going to make noise this March.
