True freshman Hunter Rison’s decision to transfer has opened up an opportunity for a slot receiver to earn playing time in 2018, but it’s anyone’s guess who will assume the role. There is significant buzz around incoming freshman Jalen Nailor, but another player to watch out for is Julian Major.

The true freshman is flying a bit under the radar due to the multiple hamstring injuries he sustained prior to his senior season of high school, which likely cost him a few offers. That said, the speedy Pittsburgh-area native still earned offers from the likes of Arkansas, Boston College, Iowa State, Kentucky, Virginia and Wisconsin. That’s not too shabby considering those injuries prevented coaches from seeing him play at his full potential.

As an early enrollee, the 6-foot-1 Major will have a leg up on Nailor to earn immediate playing time and, like Bridges, will be fueled by his injuries to prove he belongs in the green and white. With a slot role available and a clear need for more production from the return games, Major will be a prime candidate for a solid role in 2018.
