Michigan State football is ranked the No. 11 national brand by high school recruits according to a report from Pick Six Previews.

With 2018 National Signing Day now in the rearview mirror, Michigan State football is looking ahead to securing an even more impressive 2019 class.

No, that’s not to say the 2018 class was disappointing as there were plenty of talented prospects to commit to the green and white, but 2019 has the potential to be something special– maybe even Mark Dantonio’s best yet.

Michigan State is a bigger national brand than some people give it credit for, and a recent report proved that.

In an article by Pick Six Previews titled “How to Win in Recruiting”, writers Mike Nowoswiat and James Moss surveyed over 200 recruits, asking them what their interest level was in each program if they were to hold offers from every school in the nation. The results were relatively surprising.

The No. 1 branded team in the nation, according to those recruits, was Clemson. That’s not surprising given that Dabo Swinney is a likable coach and the Tigers are perennial contenders. No. 2 was Ohio State, followed by Penn State at No. 3. Georgia and Oregon rounded out the top five.

Where did Michigan State sit? The Spartans came in at No. 11 as a brand, per recruits, which put them at No. 3 in the Big Ten, ahead of Wisconsin (16), Michigan (17) and Nebraska (21). Most surprisingly, the Spartans were ahead of Florida State (12), Notre Dame (15) and Alabama (19).

This just goes to show that most high school recruits use the “what have you done for me lately” mentality. Michigan State has 100 wins over the past 11 years, and these kids are taking note.
