Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio gave a statement on Friday about a recent ESPN report and says he has no plans to resign.

It’s been a whirlwind of a week for Michigan State athletics. First, the Larry Nassar court case was taking place and the victims of his assault were delivering testimonies, including some on how Lou Anna K. Simon, and other, should have done more.

On top of that, ESPN dropped a bombshell report which accused Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo of mishandling sexual assault and other cases involving football and basketball players, and even a coach.

Panic was setting in and reports were being released left and right about the university getting ready to move forward without Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo — who were rumored to be close to resigning.

Just minutes before Michigan State’s basketball game against Wisconsin in East Lansing, Dantonio addressed the media.

He stated that the ESPN report’s accusations that he mishandled anything were false and that the resignation rumors were “absolutely false.”

While it’s a relief for many fans to see that Dantonio isn’t resigning, it should be an even bigger relief that he is refuting ugly accusations.

It’s been a blur of a week for Michigan State and the victims of both Nassar and sexual assault by Spartan athletes over the past decade.
