Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be rocking on Tuesday night as Michigan State basketball comes to town to take on a struggling Iowa team.

While Michigan State is currently 22-3 overall and 10-2 in the Big Ten, you would never know it by listening to Tom Izzo’s post-game press conferences. Heck, fans have been harsh on this team despite it getting off to the best start in school history.

Likely because this was supposed to be Michigan State’s year to run away with the Big Ten title, but Purdue is putting up one heck of a fight.

The Spartans will have a chance to inch closer to a potential share of the Big Ten title on Tuesday night with a win over Iowa. The Hawkeyes have been struggling mightily this season, but they’re not going to roll over for Michigan State, especially at home.

It’s time for some bold predictions.

5. Matt McQuaid stays hot

Matt McQuaid sure is fun to watch when he catches fire. The junior guard has his spot in the corner and he’s usually hesitant to catch and shoot, especially since he’s used to deferring to a combination of Miles Bridges, Cassius Winston, Nick Ward, Josh Langford and Jaren Jackson Jr. when he’s on the floor.

Although when he comes in off the bench, he’s usually in there with some medial scoring options such as Tum Tum Nairn, Kenny Goins, Gavin Schilling, Ben Carter and Xavier Tillman.

When Michigan State needed him on Saturday against Indiana, he stepped up. He’s going to carry that confidence over into Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Iowa.

McQuaid has made six of his last seven 3-point attempts and that could be just what the doctor ordered. We won’t see a hesitant McQuaid against Iowa as he’ll drain three more 3-pointers.
