Michigan State Basketball: Top 7 targets to watch in 2019 recruiting class
Keion Brooks is one of the top targets in the 2019 class, but it’s going to be tough to beat out Archie Miller and the Indiana Hoosiers for the four-star small forward.
It’s tough to categorize Brooks since he’s such a unique player. If I were to compare him to any current or former Michigan State players I’d say he’s a combination of Josh Langford and Branden Dawson. How does this even make sense? He has the jump-shooting ability of Langford and the athleticism of Dawson to block shots and rise to the rim.
That’s a combination of players that fans can get behind. If you watch his film, you’d see that he doesn’t take defense lightly. On top of that, he’s always active on the offensive end of the floor.
Brooks has a quick first step and he knows how to get defenders to bite and then shift his movement in the other direction on a dime. He can get to the rim with ease, it seems, and slams it home viciously when he gets there.
The 6-foot-8, 185-pound wing from Fort Wayne, Ind., is listed as the No. 31 overall recruit in the class and the No. 8 small forward, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. As stated before, Indiana is the Spartans’ biggest threat, but don’t count Kentucky out, either.
