Michigan State basketball will host Michigan in Week 10 and here are five bold predictions for the huge in-state rivalry in East Lansing.

Coming off two of their worst performances of the season, the Spartans will be hosting in-state rival Michigan on Saturday afternoon. Michigan State is limping into the game with confidence reeling, but Michigan is playing well of late despite losing to Purdue by one point at home.

Many predicted this to be a blowout before the season began but that no longer looks to be the case as the two teams are evenly matched and on opposite sides of hot and cold streaks. This should be another instant classic between the Spartans and Wolverines.

Will Michigan State rebound from an ugly showing against Rutgers to take down in-state rival Michigan?

5. Both teams get hot from long range

Michigan is one of those teams that can fill it up when it gets hot. The Wolverines are a streak team, and that’s usually what you get from a 3-point shooting squad. They make about 37 percent of their shots from the perimeter and can feel like a team that doesn’t miss when they’re on.

The Spartans are a sharp-shooting team from distance as well, making about 42 percent of their shots from long range. They’re led by Josh Langford, Cassius Winston and Jaren Jackson Jr. who all make over 44 percent of their 3-pointers. This trend will continue on Saturday, although Miles Bridges will also get in on the fun.

Both teams will get hot from 3-point range and that’s going to lead to a high-scoring affair. The Spartans will make over 50 percent of their threes for the game 12-of-21 and the Wolverines will shoot about 50 percent, too — 11-of-22. This will be one of those back-and-forth affairs where every 3-pointer will seemingly be answered.
