1. Miles Bridges announces he’s returning

How could this not be the best moment of 2017 for Tom Izzo and the Spartan basketball team? It all started with an Instagram post that told fans to “meet me at the Spartan Statue” and the rest was history.

“it’s not about me, it’s about us” is the one quote Miles Bridges will forever be remembered for and if there happens to be a statue built in his honor or some sort of dedication in Breslin Center, it’ll have that saying next to his name. He is what Izzo calls a “blue collar superstar” — you just don’t see those every day.

The best moment of the 2017 calendar year was the one which he shocked all of the NBA scouts, opposing fans and coaches everywhere, saying “no thanks” to the league and announcing his return for a sophomore season to pursue a national title.

“I wanna stay.”

That phrase will echo through Spartan fans’ ears for years to come, especially if he’s able to deliver a national title like he returned to do. Everyone knows exactly where they were when Bridges told Spartan Nation he was coming back for another season at Michigan State.
