Michigan State Football: LJ Scott announces he will return in 2018
Michigan State football received some good news on Thursday night after a Holiday Bowl win as LJ Scott decided he would return in 2018.
After a 17-yard scamper to start the game, the mood was set for LJ Scott’s final game as Michigan State’s running back — or so it seemed. The junior running back was on the fence about leaving for the NFL, but he needed a big game to boost his stock.

Just 17 carries later, Scott finished with 110 yards and two touchdowns, seemingly earning himself a spot in the top-half of the 2018 NFL Draft. His stock looked to improve tenfold.
Scott looked elusive, patient and ran hard when he needed to. He hit the holes the way everyone wanted him to all season long. The broadcasters even stated that he had been watching film of Le’Veon Bell and looked like a completely different back in the Holiday Bowl.
Following the 42-17 win, he was asked on live TV what he planned on doing next season and he smiled, looked at the camera and stated that he was going to return. He said he wants to “play another year with my (Spartan) dawgs.”
This had to take everyone by surprise given that he hadn’t had time to sit down and think about it after his breakout performance.
Although there’s a lot on the line by returning to school for another season, risking injuries, Scott said he wanted to win a title with his team and clearly he believes he can improve in all regards.
