Which five Michigan State football signees from the 2018 class could have an instant impact for the Spartans? Don’t sleep on this group.

For the first time in years, Mark Dantonio and Michigan State have signed a recruiting class without any hiccups or drama. The Spartans took advantage of this year’s early signing period and locked up all 20 of their commits on Wednesday.

There’s still room for a couple more commits, though, as Dantonio isn’t done recruiting just yet. With guys like Jordan Allen, Tommy Bush and Jackson Cravens still on the board, the Spartans are still in the market for instant contributors. However, they snagged a handful of guys who could play right away for Michigan State in 2018.

Which five early signees from Wednesday’s National Signing Day could have an instant impact for the Spartans?

Three-star linebacker Chase Kline is one of those Ohio recruits who was passed up by his home-state Buckeyes and will likely turn that into a solid career in the green and white. He’s an aggressive linebacker who will likely play the Mike position at Michigan State and he could be a nice backup, or third-string option, to Joe Bachie.

Kline is cut out of that same type of cloth. He’s strong, smart and overlooked. He’s built like a typical Michigan State middle linebacker, standing 6-foot-3.5 and weighing in at 225 pounds. He will learn the system right away and be an instant contributor for the Spartans.

This was honestly a toss-up between Kline and Jeslord Boateng, a fellow three-star linebacker from Ohio, but the Chardon-native might see the field sooner as he’s more of a finished product. Both could be starting in a matter of a couple of years, though.
