Michigan State Football: 5 players who need to step up vs. Washington State
By Stephen Robb
Josiah Scott did not have the stars or pomp and circumstance that other recruits came in with, but there was a buzz surrounding him for his play. He came to East Lansing and established himself as a candidate to play as a true freshman like in the Minnesota game. He has had his fair share of moments where he looked like a freshman.
Then there were times where he reminded fans of former MSU corner Darqueze Dennard. The talent is there even though he only had one interception on the season.
Washington State cut one of its leading receivers in Tavares Martin Jr. — he was fourth in the Pac-12 in receiving. He asked for his release and coach Mike Leach cut him loose. This is an air-raid team and therefore, there are plenty of receivers to step in.
Scott will need to build upon the good season he had because he will be tested by WSU. He will need to play as well as he did at the beginning of the season.
