4. Damion Terry, QB (2013-17)

Everyone remembers the chanting going on when then-starting quarterback Andrew Maxwell was struggling: “We want Terry!” Mark Dantonio recalled how the coaching staff thought of putting him in at that moment in the game but reconsidered.

Unfortunately for a player who came in with such fan fare and acclaim, he was never able to seize starting time. Injuries took their toll as well as being buried behind Connor Cook and Tyler O’Connor. He was supposed to be the next great quarterback for Michigan State. However, the hype is always difficult to live up to.

Terry’s best moment or opportunity was the first half of the Penn State game in 2016. He was driving the Spartan offense with his legs and the wrinkles the staff put in for him.

Michigan State had a great chance to pull an upset over highly-ranked Penn State. However, Terry got hurt on a tough tackle and was out and Michigan State had to settle with O’Connor.
