When you watch the film of four-star tight end Trenton Gillison, one thing sticks out above the rest: he’s quite athletic for a tight end. In fact, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound end from Pickerington, Ohio, runs routes like a receiver and has moves with the ball in his hands that make defenders look silly.

Another kid who Mark Dantonio poached from the Buckeye State, Gillison is teammates with another Spartan signee from 2018 who made this list of instant impactors as well.

Gillison helped lead Pickerington Central to a state title and it was because of his unique combination of athleticism, strength and glue-like hands. He’s a kid who could come in right away and play at that tight end position, but he’s also versatile enough to play a couple of different positions just to see the field right away.

Mark Dantonio likes this kid’s versatility and that’s what will help him see the field as a freshman, most likely. A tight end who runs routes quickly and as sharply as receivers? Brian Lewerke could utilize this kid right away.
