4. Cassius Winston will finish with 10 assists

While Cassius Winston might finish with 10-plus points, he will have his season-high of 10 assists thanks to some sharpshooting from the Spartans and the sophomore point guard getting plenty of fast-break opportunities. Michigan State will need him to be smarter with the ball after a tough performance against Oakland.

Winston did finish with 19 points, all scored in the second half, but his assist numbers were far too low and he had six turnovers. He knows that he can’t play sloppy moving forward if Michigan State is going to win the Big Ten and he will shake that casual attitude with the ball in his hands.

Houston Baptist has a poor defense and that will work in the Spartans’ favor. Winston will finish with a season-high 10 assists to go along with eight points. He’s going to make a couple of 3-pointers in the second half after facilitating for most of the first half.

The sophomore has had one of the best 3-point shooting rates in the country, but it’s going to be his decision-making that will lead the Spartans to an offensive explosion.
